After dinner, Robbie and I got our moonlight stroll amongst the vines. Donna was excited to babysit Wilson for the rest of the evening, giving us some alone time.
We meandered through the grapevines, illuminated by the Victorian park lamps, and as expected, it was all very beautiful. The property extended to the edge of a forest, and before we knew it, we were walking through the trees, lit only by the full moon. With Robbieâs fingers weaved through mine, I felt peaceful, able to let my shoulders drop from where they permanently sat bunched around my ears.
We walked hand in hand, chatting about my day with Donna, how the introduction with Gran went much better than I imagined, and then discussed plans for our home. The owner had agreed to sell it to us, and all the financials had been put into place. I could never thank Grandma Margot enough for helping us stay there.
âDid you see that?â Robbie said, looking wide-eyed through the trees.
âNo, what?â
âI think those are wolf eyesâ¦â
I nudged him in the ribs. âIdiot.â
Robbie laughed, quite pleased with himself as we kept walking, twigs and leaves crunching under our feet. Soon we stumbled upon a slope of stairs leading down to a large opening. We walked down until we were standing in the center, the giant redwoods encircling us. The break in the canopy allowed the moonlight to shine right through, and I could see Robbie smiling.
âThis is so cool.â
âItâs gorgeous,â I said. âItâs like something out of Twilight.â
âOkay well now youâve ruined it.â
I smacked Robbie again as he chuckled, before his faced smoothed over and he just stared at me.
âTake a picture, Marshall.â
He grinned and tucked my hair behind my ear. âYou donât look too bad in this lighting, Blake.â
His hand moved behind my neck and he pulled me closer, our noses grazing. I ran my hands around his waist as our lips met. Our mouths moved together, relishing a moment far away from all the havoc. I could taste the wine we sampled after dinner on his tongue as he flicked it over mine.
My stomach exploded in butterflies, tingling and fluttering out to my limbs. I grabbed a handful of his t-shirt, pulling him closer as my skin prickled.
âI want you.â
Robbie looked at me in surprise. âHere?â
It was no secret I wasnât the adventurous kind. But something about seeing my fiancé here, nestled in the trees, took me back to the last time I let go of my sexual inhibitions.
I bit my lower lip, pulling him even closer by the waistband of his shorts. âFor old timeâs sake.â
As I whispered the words Robbie leaned back and looked at me hungrily, caught in the memory of the first time we gave in to our desires. I could see his chest rise and fall under the moonlight, and I was fairly certain he wanted to take the trip down memory lane as badly as I did.
Our mouths met again, but this time it was urgent. I tugged on his hair, drinking him in.
